bunnyhero, rotsman, morgana006 and I are planning a Comic Anthology. Basically, it's a bunch of short graphic-novel stories revolving around a particular theme.
The first issue's theme is 'Message in a Bottle'. I don't care what time period, what characters, what anything is in the story, as long as at some point there is a bottle with a message in it. (You can even fool around with the definition of 'message' 'bottle' and 'in a' if you feel like it.)
If you are interested, or know anyone who is interested, please leave a comment here! The comics can be anything from 1-10 pages, and I will be deciding on what makes the final cut. (We are aiming for about a 60-page book, so, this is either 6 10 page stories, 60 1-page stories, or a mixture of everything.)
Please let me know, and if you know other artists, pass the word on. I would like an idea-submission deadline for August 1st. That means if you are interested, let me know by then. When we know who is all working on the project, a second deadline will be set for rough drafts, then for inks, then colours, ect.

Sometimes I get so excited about my own stuff, and so hopeful, and then I'll see something else and I'll be like: :/ Crap. There's no way I can do that. (It's a really crappy feeling.)
Anyway. Matt's gone. Le sigh. And with it, he took our internet. (Not really, but it stopped working and hasn't gone back up, no matter what I do with it.) Right now, I'm at my dad's house, but otherwise, no internets for Brittens.

| I had a really really crazy dream, involving (in no specific order): snape; a little plastic circle that was hidden in a painting and could show you the future and other people's thoughts; a play about three sisters that I was in (with my sisters, the geekfort, my uncle tom and my dad who were the techies basically); lots of luggage; my dad's mini; me being a boy (this is a pretty often occurance, actually); being in a strange movie that was actually real life that had a bunch of references to other movies and books; watching either snape's thoughts or my future on the little plastic circle that included him tying me up (as a boy) and torturing me, and then a progressive amount of bishonen anime men doing the same thing to increasingly terrifying levels, and then Snape coming up and asking me if I had found the circle in his house, in the painting of the two men that had become a double painting of one man once i had cut open the back to get at the circle, and i could never tell if Snape was evil or not, because he did seem to be trying to help me; me with the power of heat-vision, not like superman, but where I could tell the heat of any object I looked at and had like a scanning bar in my eyesight that let me see it, and that i looked for the circle with because apparently it must have been a different temperature; going to stedman's to find cheap costumes for the play and sending my dad to the thriftstore in barrie quickly to get more costumes before the play had to go on.

| Pride was incredibly, incredibly awesome. I got tons of pictures on my dad's camera - hopefully they'll be up later. So much fun. :]
I know a lot of people were a bit snarky at the 'worthy' comment I made last post, and I apologize. (I honestly feel that way, a lot of the time, but.)
I did talk to her a couple times this weekend. These discussions have only confirmed to me that I have absolutely no ranking in this girl's thoughts. She's the sweetest thing in the world, but I just don't exist in her mind.
So I'm over it. Totally.
Unlike Nat, I did not get to make out with any hot girls. (I'm too romantic to try it, really.)
But I did wear very little clothing, and I did get blown kisses, so I don't feel too bad. Next year I want to be in the parade. It will be awesome.

| I think I can actually go to the Pride Parade this year.
I've meant to go for the last three years running, but something always came up. (Not to mention that my and colin's anniversary used to be on the 26th, and it happened to fall smack into the middle of the weekend, the last couple years.)
Matt made a good point yesterday, that if they made a 'straight parade' it would be seen as a hate crime. But... I mean, heh. We've still got a long way to go, with Harper trying to re-open the marriage debate. When there is no issue about whether your gay or straight or not, then we won't need a parade anymore. When it makes no difference, then we won't have to do this. But... for now, I think that it's important that people realise that it's not a small group. That a large number of people identify themselves this way. That no matter what the government says about us and our rights, that we will continue to identify ourselves this way.
I don't know. I think it's important. But.

| Reading the newspaper made me sad.
Lately, thinking about it, I'm probably more christian that I claim to be. Simply because it is so engrained in my thought patterns, as I was raised with it, but. I still can't find any reason to hate anyone else for what they believe. I honestly just don't understand people who claim that God or the Bibile or the Quran have told them that anyone else isn't worth the same life that they are.
I mean... We are all built exactly the same way. We all share exactly the same feelings - love, loss, pain, pleasure. We all are born with two eyes, lips, hands... The only thing that differs is what we believe in, where we were born. And for all this talk of 'homegrown terror' in toronto, even the place we were born is the same. We walk the same streets every day, go to the same restaurants, laugh at the same movies. How could I even pretend to hate you? How could I even pretend to want something horrible to happen to you?
Even if you live half way across the world, we are connected. They say that Blood holds the strongest bond - family - but that's the thing, isn't it? We are all family. We all share the same blood. Half way across the world, the man fighting as an 'insurgent' in Iraq - he's my brother. We share blood. We share dreams. But for some reason we live in societies determined to hate eachother.
Why?
Can anyone honestly tell me why?
I don't want to hear "the bible told me too", because it's not true. I've read the bible. It says nothing about requiring hate. It says quite the opposite a lot of the time. I don't want to hear that any other religious book, or religious leader, told you to either. It is your decision to hate. Why would you follow blindly in the path of violence when it's your own brother's blood at stake?
Why, then? Because they have more than you? Less than you? Because their skin happens to be 2 shades different from yours? Because you can't understand their words when they speak? Because you're scared?
If they spoke english, if they had white skin, and went to church with you, you wouldn't think twice about smiling and saying good morning. What does it matter, then, that they don't? They are still that same person. Even if that particular person, no matter the colour, is someone with whom you don't get along, there's still no reason for hate. All it does is cause your own destruction. All it does is cause your own misery.
We are nothing, if we are not eachother.
all i honestly wish for is for people to pull the darkness from their eyes. to listen to what they are hearing and realise that it's wrong... that we are no different. that we are all bonded together by blood, by the essence of whatever it means to be human. there is nothing that i have that i wouldn't give to help people see that we don't have to do this anymore. that we have evolved into something that can understand peace, that can understand harmony. we have evolved into something that can live together on this planet, if only we would try.
there is nothing i wouldn't give, if only i could make people see that.

However, I think I should formally announce the:
Giant Paintball War Party Plan!
So, the basics of the plan is this: Sometime in June or July, we all book a weekend off, go up to Gravenhurst, rent (or buy, i'm looking into this) paintball guns, get camoflauge gear, and have a giant paintball war. It will be a Friday, Saturday and Sunday (or any other three days everyone can get off), and will include giant barbecue dinners for everyone and lots of snacks and food, and a bonfire and fireworks in the evening. Sound good? If you can only come for one or two of those days, that's okay too, but try at least to come for two! The first day will be training and stuff, to make it feel like real (paint)war. :D
If you'd like to come, but don't want to actually run around with a gun, that's fine too - we can always use 'medics' and other fun things that we can think of. You can always sit on the large porch and drink beer and watch the game, that's cool! However, we would like about 20 people to fill out the two squads in order to have a full game.
Here's the layout: There will be two squads, or teams, one led by me, and the other by Matt. He is henceforth known as "Captain Winters" of "Easy Company" and I will be "Lieutenant Spears Foley" of "Able Company." There will be ten people on each team, or more, if we can manage. If we can get up to 28 people, there will be four teams of 8, and we'll name two new leaders, and so on. (We would like, however, for there to be an even number of teams to make things easier.)
Games will include Ambush, Capture the Flag, Prisoner Rescue, and whatever you folks can come up with. :]
Gear will include (at minimum) a gun and safety goggles. Depending on how this works out, they may be supplied for you. (What I might do is fund the whole thing myself, and then ask for a minimum donation to help cover costs. We should be able to carpool and stuff up to gravenhurst, plus there is a train and a bus and yada yada.) You may also consider bringing: Camoflauge (you can get it for 10 bucks at army surplus), water bottle, etc. Anything you can think of! Basically we want a giant, fun game.
